Child
Poverty charity welcomes leading Conservative’s commitment to children
but challenges Tories to back rhetoric with resources
01.07.05
The Child Poverty
Action Group today welcomed David
Willetts MP’s call for a 2020 vision of an open and socially mobile
society but challenged Conservatives to commit the necessary
funding to improve and secure the incomes of Britain’s poorest children.
Kate Green OBE,
Chief Executive of CPAG said
‘We are delighted
that David Willetts MP has come to talk to Child Poverty Action
Group about creating a fairer society, but opening up society
so all can prosper will require significant financial investment.
‘Conservatives
must now explain how they will ensure that our poorest children
receive the resources they need to thrive – only then will his
vision of a better society for all be achieved.’
