| Poverty
group warns on impact of energy price hikes
15.03.06
Responding
to the Fuel Poverty Advisory Groups’ annual report published today
(March 15) the Child Poverty Action Group (CPAG) has warned of the
impact of domestic energy price rises on low-income families.
Kate Green,
Chief Executive of CPAG, said:
“Recent hikes
in domestic energy prices have put even more pressure on the budgets
of families with low incomes. Both the energy industry and the
Government need to ensure that customers on low incomes can counter
the recent increases.
“The Government
has been committed to ending fuel poverty and its focus has rightly
been on ensuring that pensioners are protected, but other vulnerable
groups such as low-income families with young children must not
be forgotten.”
