Ask CPAG online – Universal credit advances

You may be able to get a repayable advance payment of universal credit if you are waiting for a decision on your claim or to be paid, and are in financial need.

These advance payments of universal credit are very similar to short-term benefit advances that can be paid for other benefits – see Ask CPAG online – Short-term benefit advances. However the DWP deal with advance payments of universal credit slightly differently, and call them ‘Universal credit advances’.
