Ask CPAG Online - How should you prepare your case?

As with most tasks, the key to successful presentation is thorough preparation.

This involves:

  • looking through the reasons given by the DWP for making the decision you are disputing and the evidence on which it was based (e.g. your PIP2 questionnaire and the PA4 medical report form), identifying any inaccuracies and omissions;
  • deciding which descriptors you satisfy, taking into account the ‘frequency’ and ‘reliability’ rules and any relevant case law;
  • identifying what further evidence you need to submit to support your case.

All these issues are covered in detail in the section on What are the grounds for disputing a PIP disability decision?’.
