If you fail to take part in a WFI or undertake required WRA ‘without good cause, your ESA is reduced by the amount of the personal allowance for a single person (currently £73.10 per week) until you comply or are no longer required to do so. In addition, you are given a further fixed period sanction of one week (or two or four weeks for repeat offences within a year). You must be left with at ESA of at least 10 pence per week and other elements of your ESA (e.g. components, premiums and housing costs) remain payable.1
