Campaign to save tax credits

Tax credits are a top up for families, to help them meet the extra costs of raising children and to incentivise work. 4.6 million families across the UK receive them.

The government announced in July that it plans to cut both the amount families receive and increase the rate at which payments are withdrawn as parents earn more, either by working more hours or increasing their wages.

We're calling on the government not to cut tax credits. Over 600 people took part in our first action, along with nearly 200,000 others mobilised by 38 degrees. Despite the government's decision to press ahead with these changes, we will continue to lobby to protect low-income families, particularly in relation to our work on the Welfare Reform and Work Bill.
