CPAG response to Nick Clegg's party conference speech

September 26, 2012

Commenting on Nick Clegg's speech to the Liberal Democrat conference, Alison Garnham, Chief Executive of Child Poverty Action Group, said:

"We look forward to hearing more detail about the new 'catch up' premium but it looks like a very welcome step towards tackling the attainment gap and stopping poor children from being left behind. It's absolutely right to focus on freeing up opportunity for all children but we need a greater recognition in decision-making that poverty is the destroyer of opportunity for rising numbers of British children."
