Parliamentary Briefing from CPAG in Scotland and Poverty Alliance Stage 3 Debate: Welfare Reform (Further Provision) (Scotland) Bill

June 2012

This Bill has been passed, enabling Scottish Ministers to bring forward secondary legislation setting out how families will be ‘passported’ to vital devolved benefits like free school meals, school clothing grants, energy assistance, healthy start vouchers and support with access to leisure and transport. The Scottish Government has also launched its consultation on the approach to be taken to passporting. CPAG in Scotland believes there is now a real opportunity to maximise the level of support offered to Scottish families and to increase take up of that support. Our views on the approach that should be taken can be found in our Stage 3 Briefing for MSPs.
