Response to Social Security (Scotland) Bill

30 August 2017

A well-functioning social security system is a key pillar for the prevention and eradication of poverty.

CPAG in Scotland sets out its views here on the Social Security (Scotland) Bill in response to the Scottish Parliament Social Security Committee's Call for Evidence.

The  Bill provides a critical opportunity to get the new Scottish social security system right, and invest in the support needed to:

  • enable everyone to participate fully in society,
  • ensure the newly-devolved benefits are structured simply to minimise delays and errors,
  • support the realisation of a rights-based approach.
