Urgent: last chance to save local welfare provision
Campaign with us to keep our safety net.
We have been campaigning to save local welfare provision, the last back-stop for vulnerable people, for over a year. Local welfare provision helps families with unexpected, one off costs which living on a low-income doesn't let them plan for. The schemes help families fleeing domestic violence set up new homes, replace broken cookers or out-grown beds, or purchase specialist equipment for disabled people.
Local welfare provision is a lifeline for ordinary people, a lifeline that the government is currently planning to cut.
On Thursday, a consultation covering local authority funding (the provisional local authority finance settlement) will close. This is our last formal opportunity to respond to the government's plans to cut central funding for local welfare provision.
We are aim to raise a storm on social media, in partnership with Shelter, the Children's Society, 38 Degrees and Crisis, among many other charities working with children, families and vulnerable people. Join in on Twitter or Facebook.
