The local welfare assistance scheme for London Borough of Wandsworth is called the Discretionary Social Fund. For more information see the Wandsworth Council website, which links to more information about

  • Discretionary Community Care Grants: to meet a need for community care
  • Crisis payment: to help in emergency and disaster situations

You can download the Local Scheme Policy document, which was provided to CPAG in September 2014, from the link on the right hand side of this page. It sets out

  • How decisions are made on application
  • How to challenge a decision on an application

In 2015 the Council told CPAG that the only change since 2014 has been increases to the award figures used in the calculation: see the linked document on the right hand side of this page.

In 2014 the Council told CPAG that:

There are no priorities with Community Care Grants or Crisis Payments since they are dealt with the day that they are received. The allocated time period for assessment for Crisis Payments is two working days and for Community Care Grants it is five working days
