the most excluded

Children’s charity responds to PM’s lecture
on social exclusion
Responding today to the Prime Minister’s lecture to the
Joseph Rowntree Foundation on social exclusion, Kate Green, Chief
Executive of the Child Poverty Action Group, said:
“We’re pleased that the Prime Minister has recognised
that some families remain highly vulnerable to poverty and exclusion.
Although the Government has made good progress in reducing child
poverty, still looked-after children, and those in families where
there are serious mental health problems, remain at greatest risk
of growing up poor. These families need support not threats, and
adequate incomes to give children the best start in life. We welcome
the Prime Minister's commitment to positive support, which helps
not stigmatises families, as the best way to engage with those
whom the system has failed.”
