Training, events and room hire CPAG in
Scotland
We run
a full programme of training in Glasgow and a number of courses
in Edinburgh and Inverness. We also offer in-house
courses to organisations throughout Scotland.
Level
of course
It
is important that you choose the right level of course. We grade
them at four levels.
Basic:
For frontline workers who do not work specifically in welfare rights but want to know about benefit issues relevant to their clients to give basic advice or refer on.
Introductory: For people new to benefit advice work or who have little or no experience
of the subject covered by the course.
Standard: For people with a working knowledge of the benefit system or the
subject covered by the course. These are suitable for people wanting
a refresher or to update skills or information.
Experienced: For more experienced benefit advisers, who are confident about covering
issues in more and sometimes complex detail.
Scottish
National Standards (SNS)
Many of our courses cover skills and knowledge required to meet
Scottish National Standards for Information and Advice Providers.
These are indicated according to the relevant standards category.
For example, ‘SNS 4.2’ in the course description indicates
that this course deals with some or all of the requirements of Money and Welfare Benefit Related Advice Competence 4.2 (housing benefit and council tax benefit)
For details of the standards, see CPAG in Scotland's Scottish National Standards page.
Course
materials and access
We can provide course packs in large print or Braille. Training
venues are all wheelchair accessible. Please indicate on your booking
form if you have any other needs or call us to discuss them.
In-house
training – at your workplace
We can provide most of our courses in-house at your premises or a venue to suit you, to meet the training needs of your organisation. Providing a course in-house can be more cost-effective, saving on time, travel and accommodation. We provide the expert tutor and all the training materials. To make an enquiry contact Lorraine Murphy on 0141 552 or email: lmurphy@cpagscotland.org.uk.
