Hours: 35 hours a week
Salary: £40,553 - £44,821
Location: Hybrid
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to help CPAG deliver a first-rate social security training programme.
As Welfare Rights Training Development Officer, the postholder will be responsible for planning our training programme, developing new content and audiences, as well as delivering several of our courses.
We are looking for a welfare rights expert with a proven track record in writing and delivering training on social security and an innovative approach to training methods and materials. We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with experience of delivering training about disability benefits.

Freelance Trainer
CPAG are actively recruiting experts to deliver our diverse range of courses on welfare benefits and welfare rights legislation.
We deliver over 500 training sessions per year to delegates from hundreds of different voluntary and statutory organisations, including a wide range of advice agencies, student advice centres, law centres and housing associations. CPAG courses are either part of our public programme or delivered ‘in house’ to organisations on request. View our full list of public training courses.
We welcome applications from trainers interested in both online and face-to-face delivery.
Currently, we are looking for trainers specialising in:
- Introductory level courses in welfare benefits and universal credit (e.g., signposting training for foodbank workers)
- Advanced level courses in universal credit (e.g., updates and tactics)
- Students and universal credit
- Benefits for older people
- Benefits for disabled people (including PIP)
- Housing
- Open applications: we’re happy to consider pitches on new topics
